Power 30 2019 Dazzles in the Emerald City

Building on the success of last year’s Power 30 conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, 72 builders from 63 companies in 33 markets gathered January 21st through the 23rd at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle for the ninth edition of CBUSA’s premiere annual event. Each year since 2011, Power 30 has brought together an elite group who represent “the best of the best” in the independent home building sector from all member markets together for three days of strategic discussions that help attendees enhance their business operations and provide networking opportunities that create mutually beneficial connections. As our member network has grown, so have the number of attendees at each year’s event, with the 2019 edition more than doubling the number from the first conference that gave it its name.

“Power 30 is THE conference of the year for me,” said member builder George Davis, President and Founder of ProBuilt Homes in northeast Ohio. “It provides great learning and networking with other top CBUSA builders and our national contract manufacturers.   This year’s event left me primed and ready to get to work on earning more rebates and getting better pricing in 2019!

In addition to our current builders, six prospective members from four markets — San Diego, Seattle/South Sound, Milwaukee and Charlotte, North Carolina — attended Power 30 2019, along with 26 national contract manufacturer representatives from 13 companies, seven special guest speakers and panelists, and 15 CBUSA staff members. Over the course of the three-day event, guests enjoyed presentations by CBUSA leaders and industry experts, including the CBUSA Vendor Council, featuring Meagan McCoy Jones, President and COO of McCoy’s Building Supply; Mike McCrobie, VP of National Accounts – East of Builders FirstSource; and Gary Bowman, President and CEO of TW Perry. They were also treated to social events that allowed them to mix, mingle and share business ideas.

The Westin’s ideal location in the heart of the Emerald City afforded Power 30 attendees stunning views of the Seattle Skyline and easy access to many of Seattle’s most popular landmarks and attractions, including the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Seattle Waterfront and plenty of outstanding restaurants. And while the days were focused on business, the evening events gave guests a chance to network and socialize while enjoying delicious cuisine. On Monday evening, all attendees enjoyed a delicious waterfront dinner at the renowned Palisade restaurant overlooking scenic Smith Cove and Elliott Bay with sweeping views of the downtown Seattle city skyline and majestic Mt. Rainier. And on Tuesday night, select guests were invited to attend a home tour and reception hosted by CBUSA member builder JayMarc Homes that included properties in the beautiful Clyde Hill neighborhood and culminated with a beautifully furnished $4.8 million model home in Bellevue that served as an ideal backdrop for a gourmet dinner catered by Gourmondo.

“This was my first time attending Power 30 and it exceeded my expectations,” said Paul Beattie, owner of Beattie Development in Fort Myers, Florida — one our newest local builder networks. “The chance to network with this group of elite builders was amazing. The presenters were very informative, and the conference energized me for a great start to 2019! I came back excited to help grow our local CBUSA chapter.”
