Since its inception in 2004, CBUSA has been driven by a simple but powerful mission: empower the best independent builders across the country by helping them grow stronger together.

What started as a grassroots movement of like-minded home builders pooling their purchasing power has become a nationwide network that’s reshaping the construction industry – one market at a time.

A history built on collaboration

CBUSA was founded on the belief that independent builders should have access to pricing, support and resources similar to that of national production builders – without giving up their autonomy or quality standards.

By uniting builders in local networks and negotiating contracts with top-tier national suppliers and national manufacturers, CBUSA has helped builders take control of their margins, streamline purchasing and increase profitability. Over the years, the company has grown to more than 35 markets and over 850 members, making us a trusted name for both builders and brand partners alike.

“We’ve always believed that builders are better when they come together,” said Brian Pavlick, president of CBUSA. “We’re here to make sure our members have a competitive edge – and that means continuing to grow, innovate and bring CBUSA to more markets across the country.”

The value CBUSA brings to builders and local suppliers

CBUSA members enjoy access to exclusive national pricing and rebates through a curated network of brand partners. But beyond the numbers, what makes CBUSA unique is the power of community. Builders learn from each other, collaborate on best practices, gain access to resources that support growth and benefit from:

  • Purchasing power: Members save thousands per home through group purchasing and negotiated deals with trusted vendors.
  • Rebate programs: Builders earn money back on a wide range of products and materials with top brands.
  • Peer network: Builders connect with other professionals who understand their business and challenges.
  • Operational support: Our team helps members get the most value from every dollar they spend.

“It’s not just about savings – it’s about strategy,” Brian said. “We help our builders make smarter decisions that drive their businesses forward.”

And it’s not just builders who benefit. CBUSA creates consistent, high-volume committed buy opportunities for local suppliers in every market we serve. By strengthening builder relationships and purchasing commitments, local suppliers gain access to reliable business and better visibility into demand.

“Our local suppliers are critical to the success of our network,” Brian said. “When we enter a market, we’re there to elevate the entire building ecosystem – and that includes supporting the suppliers who help bring homes to life.”

Expanding into new markets

As the demand for group purchasing and builder communities grows, so does our national footprint. We’re actively expanding into new cities and regions to bring our model to more builders across the country. Each new market launch is driven by demand from local builders who are ready to join a network that works smarter and builds better.

Here are some of the newer markets we’ve opened recently.

Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City is known for its strong home building community – and it became one of the newest homes to a CBUSA market in 2024. Builders in this region now have access to the power of group purchasing, exclusive rebates and a national network of peers ready to support their success.

“I think every builder in the nation should join a CBUSA market [if one is available in their area] because it’s a very good avenue with backend support to improve your business.” – Adam Shaeffer, Co-founder of Cardinal Crest Homes, Kanasas City

Huntsville, Alabama

Huntsville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the Southeast, with a booming housing market and a reputation for innovation. It’s the perfect fit for CBUSA’s continued expansion. We’re excited to partner with builders in this area who are eager to raise the bar and grow together.

What’s next?

CBUSA’s growth journey is far from over. In the months ahead, we’ll be launching in even more markets – and this blog will be updated as we go. Keep checking back to see where we’re headed next and hear from the builders who are making it happen.

“Every market we launch is another step toward a stronger CBUSA network that will help deliver even more value to all of our customers,” Brian said. “We’re proud of how far we’ve come – and even more excited about where we’re going.”
