2014 was a strong year for CBUSA, and our work together at both the local and national levels continued to deliver measurable results for our Members. Our network welcomed more new members than any year since 2006 and our combined 2014 Purchase Volume reached levels that haven’t been seen since 2008. These gains reflect the overall strength of the housing market, which saw starts top the 1 million mark for the first time since 2007. While steady growth is welcome relief for the industry, it does present us with a new set of challenges. Manufacturers’ plants are busy, our vendors/trades/suppliers are competing for limited labor resources and there is a growing sense that steady increases in direct costs are the “new norm”. With all of these factors combining to put pressure on input pricing, the importance of our work together at the local and national levels has never been greater.
We are fortunate to have a membership made up of Builders who have the ability to think strategically and see the big picture. This was very apparent at last week’s International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas, in January, where we had 126 representatives from over 50 CBUSA companies actively working the show floor and sharing the CBUSA message with vendors and manufacturers. It was a very impressive showing of our group’s growing influence in the industry and our strength in the market.
CBUSA Members have proven time and again that we gain a sustained competitive advantage in the market by working together, and our reputation as a group of committed, like-minded business owners continues to separate us from the crowd.
Strength in Numbers. Pride in Independence. CBUSA.
