Employee Spotlight: Phil Randolph

Just two months into his tenure as CBUSA’s Southeast Region President, please meet Phil Randolph, a Virginia native currently residing in Richmond — “a small city with big city amenities,” as Phil says. He’s the focus of our latest installment in our “Meet & Greet” series.

Born in Harrisonburg, Phil called Pittsburgh, Orlando and Reading, PA, home before returning to his home state to be close to where he and Susan, his wife of 28 years, grew up and have ties to family and close friends. He brought 30 years in the lumber and building material supply industries with him to CBUSA when he joined the organization, which gives him a valuable insider’s perspective from which the members in the region he serves greatly benefit. But Phil will be the first to tell you that the benefits he receives in return are equally valuable.

“The value propositions the program offers to builders, suppliers and manufacturers are very unique,” Phil says. “And — as I am learning each day — the fantastic individuals that make up the CBUSA team are a pleasure to know and work with.”

However, Phil admits that serving as a newly installed Regional President does have its challenges.

“The hardest part so far has been getting to know as many people as I can as fast as I can,” Phil laughs.

But while he enjoys both his work and his new position with CBUSA, Phil’s greatest joy is his family. He and Susan, who teaches kindergarten and first-grade classes for autistic children in their local school district, have three sons — Spencer, 25; Austin, 23; and Mason, 20. Their family also includes two rescue dogs — Duke, a chocolate Lab mix, and Reesie, a Jack Russell Terrier mix.

“I’d have to say that raising three boys into fantastic young men has been my greatest personal success to date,” Phil says, adding, “Any day with my family is a perfect day.”

Phil and his sons are all avid sports fans. During their school years, Phil coached all three boys in basketball and baseball, and he also served as their community athletic association’s Basketball Director. Today, they often enjoy hitting the links together as a foursome for a round of golf in their free time. Another of Phil’s hobbies is collecting R.S. Prussia fine porcelain. And the family are also active members of the Church of Brethren and enjoy spending time with their local congregation.

We’re thrilled to have Phil’s combination of industry experience and commitment to family at the helm of CBUSA’s Southeast Region. To learn more about him, check out his LinkedIn profile. Be on the lookout out for the next member profile in our Meet & Greet series. Until then, see you out in the field!
